9:07 AM Recap and Review: Kamen Rider Drive Episode 47 |
Here we are the "final" episode of Drive. How will this finale break down let's see in "Who will you entrust the future to?". Picking up with Drive healed up and him and Heat ready for round two with Sigma. While Sigma still overpowers the two they do a fast ball special to finally land a hit on the thing and prepare for the finish. Tomari does a All-Tire Mix-Up to set up Sigma and with this new Tire and Heart powering up to max an all out Rider Kick and Roidmude Punch leads to Sigma finally going boom and the Second Global Freeze being put to a end and the team celebrates the hard fought victory. We see Tomari and Heart are exhausted from the encounter and while Tomari is separated from Buckle he falls out of a hole in the building made by the destruction of Sigma with Heart chasing after him. In some unknown place we see Tomari wake up in a forest alone with a patch of black smog. A mysterious Kamen Rider, Ghost, appears telling him to not go near it only for Freeze, Sword, and Thief to appear from the smog and attempt to take Tomari with them. Ghost fights off the phantoms and gives Tomari the opening to leave. He destroys the phantoms with a flurry of quick strikes and sword slashes. Tomari wakes up outside the building with Heart sitting waiting on him to awake so they can finish things. Heart will not back down from his stance and Tomari tires his best to talk him out of it. Heart relentlessly beats on Tomari without transforming into his Roidmude form. Meanwhile Gou is woken up by Rinna and Otta as they check on him. They about kill him in their happiness and Kiriko comes across Buckle finding out about Tomari taking the quick way out of the building. Finally pushed against a fence nearby Heart powers up a massive Roidmude Punch to finish off Tomari. Kiriko arrives and tosses Buckle over to Tomari who seems to be ready to fight only for the punch to stop inches from Tomari who knew this was going to happen. Heart suffered too much damage to his core during the Sigma fight and was wishing to die by Tomari's hands. Heart wishes for his people to be remembered and Tomari and Kiriko promise to do so. Heart is happy to have finally made a human friend and the pair see him off as much like Medic and Brain and fades away into dust. Tomari announces that at 3:32 p.m. all 108 Roidmudes are gone and the pair salute Heart for his help in stopping Sigma. Back at the Emergency Pit the team congratulates each other and while the mourn Chase's passing they have saved the world. Tomari asks where Buckle is and the team says he took their Rider gear for repairs. Tomari figures out where he went and for one last time gets into top gear and the S.C.U. heads to The Pit. They find Buckle has packed up all Rider gear behind a shield in the center and is ready to lock himself and the rest of the gear away until the world is ready for his Core Driviars. The team says good bye to Buckle and Tomari hands over the Shift Brace and says that he has been a great partner. The team salutes Krim and the Shift Cars as they are lowered and Krim tells Kiriko to take care of Tomari. They will make a better future and we flash forward to a few days later as the S.C.U. is backing up as they are parting ways as their team is no longer needed. Otta seems a bit pissed at just having to stand around not having anything to do. Meanwhile Gou still has the Signal Chaser and after Harley arrives to pick him up the pair head off presumably so the pair can accomplish what Gou wishes to do, revive Chase. Tomari hasn't touched his desk and him and Kiriko are M.I.A.. The pair are out for a drive in a fancy Nissan and Tomari seems to not be ready to move on. The pair are pulled over by a officer on a bike and we see that this officer is the person Chase copied. He is Kannou Kouichi, traffic enforcement officer, and a bit stiff around people. Tomari tells him he has a friend now and he will drop by to say hi. Kouichi is taken back by this and heads off saying he doesn't need friends. The pair get a laugh out of their encounter and Tomari is ready to say goodbye to the team and move on to whatever is to come in their lives. The pair enjoyed the ride there as we see what will happen to the various S.C.U. members outside of Tomari and Kiriko. Chief gets promoted to commissioner of the police, Rinna returns to research and gets a Nobel Prize for her research in physics, Otta goes on to become a inspector and eventually a captain of First Division. Kyu becomes for his skills behind the keyboard and pen, and Gou becomes a legendary photographer. We end with our dynamic duo riding off into the sunset laughing and enjoying the company of each other. Damn this episode was light on action but made up for in emotion as we really do get to say goodbye to the team and share one last moment with all of them. The final encounter with Heart end in a way that was unexpected but fit with how the executives have changed over these final few episodes. Heart dies fighting for humanity and for believing himself to be better than the squishes proves to be the most human out of the three and maybe in some alternate telling of events could have been the secondary Rider to Chase's primary Rider. The Ghost cameo was cool and won't be the last time we see the spooky Rider before his proper debut in a couple of weeks. The send off for each of the team was great and it was nice to see where each of them will be in the future since it is very unlikely that we will any of them in future content outside of Movie War 2016. Buckle locking himself and the Rider gear away is a nice little plot point to set up for the movie to come and it will be interesting to see what will force Krim to come out early. Also very cheeky to bring Chase back for the final episode as the person he copied keep his potential revival for Movie War 2016. Overall this was a emotional episode that ends Drive on a slower note as we say goodbye to the team and prepare for the new Rider to come. Speaking of next time the team is pulled into one final case as Neo Shade returns, Ghost comes looking for one of his Eyecons and Tomari gets a second chance at the shot he missed.
