2:46 PM Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen Recap & Review |
Alright, I'm just going to start this off by saying this. If you're looking for a movie that is good as a standalone but shouldn't be taken serious for any related shows, then this is a good movie. However, if you're looking at this after watching Kamen Rider Decade, Kamen Rider OOO, Kamen Rider Fourze, Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, or Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, then you probably will have problems with this movie. Now, there's reason for me saying all that I did in that first bit there, but I'll go step by step on this. At the start of the movie, you see Captain Marvelous (Gokai-Red) "defeating" (note the quotes) the seven legendary Riders. After this happens, you hear that Marvelous' plans are to defeat all Riders and Tsukasa states that since Marvelous' plans are to defeat the Riders he shall defeat all Sentai. Now, while a battle is always a good way to start out a movie of this nature it could have stopped right there and tried to explain why they came to this conclusion, but it fails to do this. After this, you transition to the Fourze part of it which lasts all of about 10 minutes tops. It gives you a really rough look at the Fourze team and a fight scene against Marvelous' minions. During this Marvelous reveals his plans to Fourze and explains to the rest of the Gokaigers that Decade has "defeated" several Sentai members. After this Marvelous "defeats" Meteor using the same means as he did at the beginning. Alright, now here's the problem with this part. It's assumed that Marvelous "defeats" Fourze. However, you never see that happen. The last you see of Fourze was him getting attacked by Marvelous' newfound ship. Fourze technically never was "defeated" on screen and it never comes back to say he was defeated. Just saying. At this point, Decade begins attacking the Go-Busters with various Rider related villains. The Gokaiger team comes in and it results in Luka, Ahim, Gai, and the Go-Busters being "defeated". As far as we're standing in this movie right now, Tsukasa and Marvelous are blaming each other for the "deaths" occurring to the Riders and Sentai. We still know absolutely nothing about why either of them are doing what they are doing. For all we know right now, Tsukasa could just be the dick we've known from Decade and Marvelous could be under some kind of screw up hypnosis.... NO ANSWERS AT ALL!!!!! Of course, Decade's involved so that explains the lack of answers. Then, we join back up with Marvelous and his dickery. We find him bringing his puppets to fight OOO. However, this time he lets them do the work and watches from the sidelines. The Double Births come to aid OOO in the fight as Kaito (DiEnd) and Marvelous have their battle. During this, Marvelous explains that he's out to get the universe's greatest treasure and must defeat all Riders to do so. Kaito precedes to tell him that he will be going for that treasure too since he doesn't care about Riders or Sentai. Marvelous, while fighting Kaito, then "defeats" the Double Births and goes to finish off DiEnd. In an attempt to save a fellow Rider, OOO jumps in to take the shot. Thus, ending all of the OOO Riders. From here, Hina, who is protecting the OOO medals, goes with Kaito to escape before Marvelous can get his hands on the medals. Kaito takes them to the Crisis Fortress where he confronts Tsukasa about all of this. After refusing to join Tsukasa, Kaito and Hina are chased through a dimensional wall where they see Joe (Gokai Blue) and Doc (Gokai Green). After Hina guilting Kaito into helping the Gokaigers, Joe attempts to take his frustration out on Kaito because he knows Kaito is a Rider. After this, they all decide that they need to get to the bottom of why Tsukasa and Marvelous are acting like they are. Since Kaito knows where Tsukasa will be next they decide to follow him with the intentions of talking to him. Upon seeing Decade "defeat" the Goseigers, Joe becomes furious and attempts to attack Decades forces only to have Marvelous save him from dieing. After saving him, Marvelous tells Joe that only one team can exist and that Akaranger can tell them why this is such. This then leads to Marvelous and Tsukasa battling to find that they are simply evenly matched. When they return to the Gokaigers' ship, Joe tries again to defeat Kaito only to find that he simply doesn't have it in him to go through with it. The group then decides to get Momotaros and the DenLiner to take them back to Akaranger's time to ask why this is happening. They return with Akaranger thinking that all will be fine and that once Akaranger and Kamen Rider 1 talk the worlds will go back to normal. However, a battle ensues between the remaining Riders and Sentai that leaves only Akaranger and Kamen Rider 1. After everyone is surprised that this happened, Tsukasa and Marvelous reveal that it merely was the two of them all along and that they tricked them to finish the Riders and Sentai off quicker. One question about this here, did anyone think about how Marvelous beat them to Akaranger or how Decade defeated Akaranger before Marvelous got there???? This infuriates Joe as he attacks Marvelous. With Kaito protecting Joe, Decade and Marvelous "defeat" them. Thus, leaving Decade and Marvelous to fight it out just like the last time. Forget about Gokai Green anyone? Just saying. Upon their battle ending in a draw again, Doktor G and Silva arrive and reveal that Dai-Shocker and Dai-Zangyack have been playing them all along and that they were merely waiting on all Riders and Sentai to be eliminated before they could continue their plans. Still forgot about Gokai Green didn't you? Ah, nevermind..... Tsukasa and Marvelous then reveal that they knew about their plan from the start and was merely putting all of the teams in a dimensional rift. BULL$H!7!!!! They were being evil too good. Not to mention, the ones in the rift knew what was going on. Why the hell didn't we know before then?!?!? Anyway, all of the teams gather and proceed to combine powers to defeat all of them. Just as the fight was almost over, a rage driven Kaito completes Dai-Shocker and Kai-Zangyack's plan to create the Big Machine and uses it on the Go-Busters. As Go-Buster Yellow gets flung from the Zord, Fourze takes her place. Using Fourze's switches (that were on the belt not the Zord), the team defeats the Big Machine from space. After this, Doktor G reveals he is Narutaki says "Damn you, Decade." and leaves. Now, this movie was alright. Was it something I would watch repeatedly? No, but I don't regret watching it. It had its flaws, but looking at it as a one off that has nothing definitive to do with the related shows it was good. If you want to get into Rider or Sentai and have only watched this, I would say this. It gets way better. Honestly, looking at it after watching Decade last season on TGSR, I can tell that there is too much Decade in this movie. However, I feel like that doesn't make it a bad movie. Just not a great one. So, take this as you will. |
