9:52 PM Recap and Review: Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 20 |
Just what is the Inves. That is the question at the center of this week's episode and both Kouta and Kaito will find out but alliances are changing and what is to come this week will set the stage for what may be a war to come in the future. With that said let's take a look at episode twenty of Kamen Rider Gaim "The World Ends, The Invasion Begins." We kick off this week's episode with Kouta and Takatora going to a place to see the truth. On the way Kouta asks for information about Yuuya but before Takatora can answer they are interrupted by Inves and are pulled into a fight as we cut to the opening. Back from the opening we catch up with Kaito as he begins his talk with Sid and Sengoku. We don't get far before we cut back to Kouta and Takatora as they clean house. Takatora tells Kouta that they are unsure of just what the forest is and on the other side we see that Yggdrasill is a foundation whose sole purpose is to research the forest. Zawame City seems to be the place where a lot of portals are opening and this is what drew Yggdrasill here. Kaito even finds out that the tree from his past is right there in front him now. It is a tree born from a seed from Helheim and has grown to the size it is at over many years. Kaito is not happy about this but Sengoku simply says that they should talk somewhere more comfortable. Sid and Minato have a quick chat about Sengoku and what he wants with Kaito before the conversation continues between our two knight themed Riders. Sengoku wants to show Kaito just what they are trying to do, meanwhile Takatora is doing just the same thing and shows Kouta an ancient city decimated by the forest. A civilization once existed here but now they are no more and the very people are now the Inves. The Inves is more than just the monsters they are the very plants with the monsters just the last stage of an evolution cycle. The forest itself is invading our world and if left uncheck will do what has happen to one world before to ours once again. The world is at stake and even with Yggdrasill's resources at work they have only ten years before the earth is just another version of Helheim. Kouta is shaken to the core by this and the point is driven home by the fancy stone furniture in the room they are in. Kaito is not as shocked by this but this does take him back slightly. Meanwhile Zach and Peco are doing their best against some Inves in the city and with a combined effort finish them off with a Walnut Sparking. The two check in on a civilian who is injured and things aren't going to be ending well for them. Pierre and Jono enter to turn the crowd against the Beat Riders and after more Inves enter Pierre goes to fight them himself. We also see that Micchy is doing his part by also taking out some Inves with some of the Kurokage Troops backing him up. Micchy heads back to Gaim HQ and continues to be resolved to continue down the path he has chosen for the benefit of the ones he loves. Back with Kouta and Takatora, Takatora explains why they are keeping this secret. If this were to come out there would be no way for people to come together to solve this issue and it would only shorten the amount of time they already have left. Kaito agrees with this but Kouta refuses to believe that would happen. Yggdrasill is the last line between the forest and the earth and Takatora is resolved to be a part of than last line. On the other hand Sid, Minato, and Sengoku have other ideas. Takatora asks Kouta to trust them and more Inves enter and Takatora goes to take them out. Kouta is hesitant and only transforms to protect himself and barley throws a punch. Kaito then finds out what our other three Energy Riders are after. They are not in this to protect the world and if it means keeping secrets then neither does Kaito. Kaito believes this is the right time to weed out the weak and make sure that only the strong will be left standing. We end this week there as our three Energy Riders welcome a new member to their team and Kouta is left shaken by the truth. This week was filled to the brim with information and now more than ever is the picture clear of just what is Yggdrasill. Takatora shows that he is firm but only because of the fight he has been fighting for who knows how long know and that he is willing to do the one thing that Micchy is not willing to do, tell Kouta the truth. Sengoku and crew show that they are not on the same page as Takatora and are plotting their own schemes behind his back. Kouta and Kaito show the opposing viewpoints they have and even their differing reactions to the truth. Zach continues to grow but he are the rest of the riders are playing a minor role to the info dump that Kouta and Kaito received. The mystery of the Inves deepens and just exactly what it is now shrouded in more mystery now than it has ever. We don't get much more than this so what our two characters will do from here on out will be determined in time. Overall this was a eye opening episode as the dynamic between who is a hero and a villain changes. This is going to be a very important episode from here on out so do check this one out before going forward. Next week Kouta wrestles with the truth and has a rematch with Sid as Kaito is out searching form something.
