3:47 PMRecap and Review: Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 27
Oh Micchy your world is crumpling around you and you try so hard to keep it together but unfortunately things are slowly growing out of your control and soon you will have to face the consequences. Until we get that episode let's see how Kouta is doing on his own in Helheim with episode twenty-seven of Kamen Rider Gaim "When You Know The Truth..." We kick things off with Micchy wanting to finish off Kouta after shooting him in the back last week. He seems hesitant but is interrupted before he can do anything by Kaito. Kaito is not interested in their issues but he will not let Kouta be defeated by some using cowardly methods. Micchy is ran off and Kaito tells a unconscious he is too dense to realize the how annoyed he makes some people.
Back from the opening we see Kouta coved up by Helheim plants up in a tree as he wakes up. He falls out and we cut to Micchy and Mai talking about the two need to make up. Mai tells Micchy he isn't acting like himself and Micchy wonders if that is who he truly is. We cut to Takatora taking a shower and having a flashback about the first time he used the Sengoku Driver. The test initially goes well but the Lockseed eventually overloads and Takatora is severally hurt from the accident. Sengoku was there to pull the Lockseed out of the Driver to save to Takatora from more harm. Back from the flashback we see Takatora comment on how the pain in his shoulder is nothing compared to sins he bears. We see Sengoku looking through some old Driver files and get a easter egg reference to past riders in the process. He flashes back to talking to Takatora in the Hospital. Sengoku tells him to take it easy and lay off the paperwork and even apologizes for the research not being further along. Takatora tells him to not worry about it and says that his research is there last hope. Sengoku tells him the forest contains the path to further evolution and even godhood but Takatora tells him mass production of the Driver comes first in order to save as many lives as possible. Sengoku is not happy about this and with information about the Overlords reaching him via Minato his plans to overthrow Takatora begin. In the present Takatora drops by to talk. Takatora asks if mass production can go any quicker by Sengoku simply says no.
We cut to Kouta as he feeds off of the Sunflower Lockseeds he puts in his Driver. Kouta hears something in the distance and sees Pierre wondering around. He stops by a tree and almost eats a Helheim Fruit by throws it away due to his military training. Kouta approaches to say hello but Pierre is a bit hostile. Kouta offers some food he had packed but Pierre doesn't want any. Kouta decides to walk away but Pierre changes his mind. We cut to Demushu attacking some random Yggdrasill employees demanding to know where the Red Warrior, Kaito, is. They are surprised by a talking Inves but Demushu makes no progress. Redyue drops by to have words with him before he stomps off. Redyue the picks up a Sengoku Driver off of one of the employees and seems interested in it.
Meanwhile Takatora is alerted to this and heads off to the portal. Sengoku and the rest of Team Yggdrasill don't seem happy. Meanwhile Pierre and Kouta comes across the camp and henshin to help out. Takatora is already on scene and is attacked by Demushu. He demands to know where Kaito is and is lays into Takatora until Kouta makes the save. Pierre decides to have a few words with Takatora about his upgraded suit by is told to guard the camp as he heads off to join the fight against the rampaging Overlord. Kouta tries to talk him down but it is not working. Takatora then gets filled in on the Overlords. Demushu laughs off Kouta's want to save the world with their help. Takatora decides to wear him out and capture him which Kouta decides to help out with. The two together are pushing the Overlord back but with some assistance from some trees he gets enough time to send a fireball out to knock the two around. Pierre eventually takes a shot for Takatora and gets thrown into the portal to Yggdrasill HQ for his trouble. Demushu is contacted by a white Overlord and runs off in pain from the sound the white Overlord is putting out. The two give chase and we see Sengoku is really not happy about this.
The two eventually take a moment to talk about things. Kouta thanks him for believing in him and Takatora introduces himself for the first time and thanks him for finding another way. The handshake is interrupted by the two about to go chasing Demushu again but Sid interrupts with a shot in the back of Kouta. Takatora tells him to back off and even punches Sid for his trouble. Kouta runs off in pursuit. We end with Sengoku deciding it is time to give Takatora a long deserved vacation weather he likes it or not.
Micchy continues to be the snake in the grass but takes a back seat to the bigger plot a play by Sengoku. We see just how long Sengoku has been plotting against Takatora and why he decided to do so. Takatora for once has a second option besides Project Ark and we see that buried underneath the jaded warrior is somebody who just wants to protect people from the forest. Kouta shows how trusting he is even to two people who have been constant antagonist to him. Pierre gets to be comedic and that is just about it. Demushu shows he can be stubborn and wants revenge against Kaito for injuring him and we see a tease for something we will get to next week. Overall this was a episode with more setup and continuing the mystery of the Overlords and we see that they may have a leader. Sengoku sets in motion his finally plays as Takatora is his next target to be taken care of. This was a good episode but like some episodes in Gaim it is only as good as the episodes to come. Next week Takatora and Sengoku have a heart to heart, Sengoku henshins on screen, and Takatora attacks Kaito?
