8:43 PM Recap and Review: Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 37 |
After the shocking events of last week's show what will happen this week. Simply put it is a movie tie-in episode that everybody loves, but does it manage to still be a entertaining episode let's find out with episode thirty-seven of Kamen Rider Gaim "Baron's Soccer Summer Campaign. We kick things off with Kouta intercepted by a Inves that can separate into a swarm of insects to avoid attacks and get the drop on Kouta whenever it is convenient. Kouta goes Jinba Lemon to fight it but only manages to run it off. We cut to Kaito checking his wound and pondering current events. Sagara drops by to tell him Kouta has gotten stronger over time and pretty much left him in the dust. Kaito says he can beat Kouta and Sagara summons another Kouta from the movie I assume to fight Kaito. Gaim 2 goes Kiwami while Kaito goes Lemon Energy and you can tell quickly Kaito is out matched. Kaito barely gets in any offense but refuses to back down but a mysterious person, Armored Rider Kamuro from the movie, distracts him and he gets a flaming soccer ball to the gut that sends him to the world the Gaim movie takes place. Kaito finds himself in the middle of a soccer game between Team Baron and Team Charmant Pierre, Jono, and a revived Hase along with other people. Team Baron loses and Kaito just simply wants to know what is going on. He finds out about the All Rider Cup which we will get to later. Sagara gives us some exposition akin to the Inves game stuff from back in the day before we cut to Kaito getting filled in. Kaito finds out that the All Rider Cup is a soccer tournament where the winning team gets the Golden Fruit, assumingly the same fruit they are after in the show. Team Baron is on a losing streak and Kaito plans to fix that. The team starts there practice and we quickly find out that Kaito doesn't know how to play soccer. We then have Kengo Nakamura, a soccer pro, enter the show to essentially train the team, by the team I mean Kaito, Zack, and Peko, to get them up to snuff to defeat Team Charmant. Training Montage follows and by the end our heroes are good to go. Kaito runs into mystery boy and finds out that this is his world and he has memories he doesn't like. The monster that attacks Kouta comes in and Kaito has to fight it off in Banana Arms. He tells Zack to transform and help but the Inves and Helheim have not enter this world apparently as Zack and Peko are shocked by the sight of a monster. The Inves is chased off to go bother Kouta once more. We see Kouta continue to run around and get a hint at the other new rider that will be in the movie. We check in with Team Charmant as they sign autographs and find out that Team Baron got good in the last ten minutes so are showdown between these two teams is set. Whoever wins gets to move on in the tournament. We get a quick scene where Kaito says his motivation outright. The two teams meet and Team Charmant brings in Kosuke Ota, another soccer pro, to even the odds but Kengo arrives to help the team he trained. We cut to Kouta fighting the Inves and he eventually has had enough of this and goes Kachidoki to fight it off. This fight is intertwined with Kaito's soccer game. Sagara arrives to tell Kouta things are getting nasty and something is waking up in Helheim. He gets to see a scene from the movie and eventually goes Kiwami to end the fight quickly as normal. The monster is eventually pushed off into the movie world so Kaito can deal with it. We see Team Baron win the game and move on in the tournament. The monster arrives and after a assist from our two pros Kaito fights the Inves on his own. After fighting in Banana Arms for a bit he goes Lemon Energy and is able to compete with the monster. After a Lemon Energy charge shot to hold it still a Sparking Rider Kick ends the threat once and for all. The boy arrives to send Kaito back since he doesn't like what he is doing. He takes his memories which include shots of what is to come in the movie. Kaito wakes up thinking it was a dream. Kouta runs off to go into the movie and then come back for next week. We see Armored Rider Mars oversee him and pretty much set up the movies conflict. We end with him heading back to the movie world. This was a alright episode that was mostly comedic filler sprinkled with movie tie-in stuff to get people excited for the movie. Kouta and Kaito simply get to play along with whatever goes on and that is about it. Hase returns to what is essentially a cameo role Team Charmant is only there to get Team Baron to the movie and our movie riders just get to be mysterious all episode. Overall while it isn't bad it just feels on par with the other tie-in related episodes. Which for those of us across the pound that will be about six months down the line before we see any of the movies these episodes tie-into. Next week Micchy deals with what he has done, Sengoku arrives to "help", and Takatora is back?
