9:25 PM Recap and Review: Kamen Rider Gaim Episode 46 |
So here we are at the finale before the finale. What awaits our heroes at the end of the long road they have been on let's find out with episode forty-six of Kamen Rider Gaim "The Fated Victor". We kick things off with the continuing battle between Kouta and Kaito. The two continue to throw everything they have at each other. Kouta eventually goes Kiwami to fight Kaito on an even playing field before we hit the opening. Back from the opening we see Mai overlooking a representation of the battle between the two. She is torn between the two over various reasons and is concerned about them both. Kouta does his best but finds himself outmatched by Kaito at various times. Kouta eventually finds himself nearly defeated with Kaito ready to strike the final blow. He soon bounces back and breaks Kaito's sword in two and uses the broken tip to stab him in the chest and ending the fight once and for all. The two have a quick conversation dehenshined where Kaito finally acknowledges Kouta's strength before passing away. Kouta is upset that it came to this but is ready to claim the fruit. Mai returns to give Kouta the fruit and he takes a bit taking on its power. He is transformed into what can be assumed to be his Overlord form. His hair is blonde now and he is wearing the Kiwami suit with the normal chest plate replaced by a silver colored Pinecone chest plate. Sagara arrives to ask what future that will build from the ashes from the old and Kouta answers by saying that they will forge their own future. Kouta opens a portal to a world on the edge of the universe and sucks up all of the forest and Inves into it. The will forge a future on this dead world and leave earth alone. It will be a difficult path but the two together believe that they can. Sagara is surprised by this but accepts that this is the path they have chosen and will simply move on and departs with words of encouragement for the two. Sagara wonders what will happen to the next species in line as he begins the process all over again on a new world. We cut to three months later as life returns to normal in Zawame City. Bando has plenty of customers at Drupers, Jono hangs up a missing poster for Hase alongside many others, and Zack oversees the Beat Riders united dancing together in front of an audience. Micchy is seen hiding in the background but we will get to him in a bit. We check in with Jono and Pierre as the former is happy to have his job at Charmant but wonders where Hase is since nobody told him he is dead. He also wonders what Micchy will do now since he is all alone. Zack spots him and says he can come back and dance with the rest of them if he wants. Micchy declines feeling unworthy of his kindness considering everything he has done. He heads off to a hospital where we get a big surprises as we see Takatora is still alive but unconscious at the moment. He was rescued by a boat by the damage has been done and the doctor is unsure when or if he will awaken. We see inside Takatora's dream as Kouta drops by to say hi and tell him that the threat of Helheim is over. Kouta then asks for a favor, to return to Micchy and be there to lead him down the right path. This would be a chance for both of them to change and Takatora agrees to do so. We end the episode with Takatora waking up and Micchy happy to see his brother. This week can is some ways be considered the finale of the show as we touch on all those that are still alive and find out what they are doing since the need to fight has passed. Kouta and Mai take up their roles of rulers of a new world and we are left to wonder if they will succeed. I would think so and even though they are very far from home recent info about the next episode and the upcoming crossover film suggest that Kouta will find a way back. The Nutastic Trio get some closure but I do wonder why no one has told Jono about Hase or why keep it from him. It is a minor complaint but that may be fixed next week. Micchy after everything he has done and been through now can begin to redeem himself. Takatora's return while initially may be a bad decision I feel that it will help bring both characters back from their respective brinks and turn them into the true heroes they always had the potential to be. Kaito goes down being the final obstacle for Kouta to overcome and I wonder if he will remain dead or he will come back in some way next week since he can be spotted in the preview. Overall while it is not a shocking finale outside of Takatora's return it is still a nice end to a great show. Where we go from here is up to others as this is the last episode Urobuchi has written and Jin Haganeya, a secondary writer for Gaim on many episodes, will be writing the final episode. Speaking of said episode next week on the finale of Kamen Rider Gaim peace has return to Zawame but a new threat arrives in the form of Armored Rider Jam and he is not alone. With many of the riders driverless it falls on Micchy to take a stand and defend the city.
